A Greener Building
Our historic venue is operated with modern, low-carbon systems:
- Powered entirely by 100% renewable electricity and gas (REGO and RGGO certified)
- LED lighting throughout, with timers and motion sensors to minimise energy use
- FSC and EU EcoLabel compliant stationery
- Multiple waste recycling streams, including dry mixed recycling, food waste and cardboard
Sustainable Catering with Impact
Delivered in partnership with our caterers Seasoned, our catering services are grounded in ethical sourcing and circular practices:
- 80% of ingredients are sourced within a 50-mile radius
- 90% of fruit and veg are UK grown and seasonal
- All seafood meets Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards
- No single use plastics at events
- 86% of waste is currently recycled
- Surplus food redistributed via FareShare and Sanctus
- Delivery emissions offset through UK tree planting with the Woodland Trust

We use technology and design to reduce waste and emissions:
- Digital signage and hybrid meeting options to minimise paper use and delegate travel
- Filtered tap water served in reusable glass bottles
- Recycled coasters and flipcharts for sustainable workshops
- Recycled notepads and pencils available on request only, reducing unnecessary waste
Transport
Our sustainable venue is located just minutes from Oxford Circus and Bond Street, we support low-carbon travel by:
- Encouraging all delegates to travel by public transport
- Secure cycle racks and cycle-to-work scheme for staff
Accessibility
- Step free access and accessible toilets on all floors
- Wellbeing room, mothering/prayer space, and hearing loops available
- On site social enterprise café, Trampoline, promoting inclusion and employment through social impact
Health, Nature and Social Sustainability
Beyond operations, we recognise the link between sustainability, health and social equity. The RCN has planted over 10,000 trees since 2009, supporting staff and patient wellbeing through therapeutic gardens and access to green space.
